For those that have booked already, or about to...where did you do your booking? Travel agent, online, airline vacation package?

Why did you pick where you are staying? Was it price, have you stayed there before, was it recommended by someone else, or just shoot in the dark and see how it's going to be?


I'm still looking for a place to stay (had a post before in travel forum 'rock and a hard place' ) but I'm used to booking with airline vacation packages because of the flier miles accumulated and good experience with airline.

Some of the locations mentioned here are on the airline selection, but looking at tripadvisor.com some get mixed reviews (but i take tripadvisor with a grain of salt as well)

If you have been to Cozumel before, what keeps you going back?? Why not somewhere else?

I usually quote the exact same package with all three (and even switch up days looking for the best deal). Whichever is cheapest gets the book. This year the difference was over $200 between them when we booked.

Picked our hotel on a combination of price, amenities, and reviews. I think a lot of that is personal preference and it's a formula you have to come up with yourself.

But August can't get here quick enough...

It's our first time diving in Cozumel, although we have snorkled there before (before being dive certified). Cozumel sounds like an awesome place to dive, and the airfare from the U.S. is pretty attractive.

Well look who chimed in!... How are you two doing?... You know there is still time for you to schedule a flight and reserve a room!! ... I need a reliable dive buddy!
I am toying with the idea of doing the NACD Cave Diving course with Yucatech Expeditions (http://www.yucatech.net/yucatechmain.htm) that week. That's kind of an all day, every day deal, though, and would eat up all my time there!... So still pondering whether I really want to commit to that on this trip!
If I don't do that, I will DEFINITELY be with Aldora!.. So come on down and join me!

I really had hoped that Dweaver would ask again on a new thread for a bigger response, but good answer, nice approach. I tried a current date view comparison of how those three did for my Amarillo to Coz trip on Aug 21-28 compared to my usual approach - air & hotel packages, 2 travelers sharing room - and then I decided to share this on the main Coz forum: http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/cozumel/339528-how-do-you-shop-air-hotel-package-discounts.html I do hope neither of y'all mind.

There are 10 of us going down to Cozumel but only 6 will be diving and snorkeling. First time for us. Aug. 3rd thru the 12th. staying at Casa Mexicana
