Cozumel dive operators suggestions

Good Afternoon,
My husband and I are heading back to Cozumel for our 5th trip. We are looking for suggestions for a small dive operation that leaves right when the harbor opens. We are staying at Sunscape Sabor.

I use Dive Paradise almost exclusively. Lots of good ops down there though.

One of my last choices. You had to go with them for the Scubaboard gathering as you needed one big enough for your crowd.

Most of the dive Ops are wonderful. Finding one that fits your preferences the best is the challenge. Some cheerleaders here claim that their choice is the best, usually without giving reasons. I don't know what you mean by "when the harbor opens" as it doesn't close other than for weather. You want the earliest?

I've been with them when I've been there on my own too. Good peeps. Told them the type of diving I wanted and they had enough boats going different places that they were able to accommodate me. Just like when we do an invasion. Everyone has their favorites and Dive Paradise is mine.

I've dove with DP too but I'd dive with them more often if the small fast boats had shade. SI's on board floating around in full sun isn't high on my list of wants.

I understand. You started with them because they were big enough for your gathering, went back because you had a good relationship, and there's nothing wrong with them. It'd take so many trips to give all of the boutique Ops multi-day experiences, and then some would change. Just a nice win-win situation in Coz with so many great Ops.

Yeah, I hate those. I wear a hat or cap on SIs, but I still like the choice of shade. Dive boats with permits are severely overpriced in Coz with all the competition, but how much does it cost to add shade?

I think who you are makes a difference in how you're treated. And unfortunately, what you look like on the outside also matters. That's just the way it is.

If I was the owner of SB, I'm sure I'd be treated well.

I made a comment in another thread that I was treated poorly in the Keys, poor enough that I would never go back.

If something hits me "wrong" about a dive op, I will. Usually they find out afterwards. Often, someone on the boat rats me out. Bad service is pretty ubiquitous. Shops who regularly dish it out, never realize what they are doing. They aren't going out of their way to piss you off. They just do it easily with little regard to who you are. It's like a gift, only no one is smiling.
