Warhammering is not a legend and it's not specific to SB.

It's nothing more than dropping your wetsuit and taking a dump underwater.

I guess I am misinformed. I thought it was named after a guy whose SB handle was Warhammer who posted the video.

And doesn't the performer have to be inverted to correctly perform the maneuver?

I can't imagine there's a wrong way to take a crap underwater. I mean, if your position isn't ideal, so what? It's gonna rinse off.

The first owner of SB named it back in January 2001. It's how I first became a mod and then the owner of SB. It's special to me. A Warhammer can only be done by divers who give a crap while fully immersed. Off shore dumping on the surface doesn't count.

It was a still, not a vid, but you got it right. The original picture was named deeprelief.jpg and was posted by @Warhammer. I've been told that Greg has since passed on.

I'll always feel empowered to pee in any ocean, spring or aquifer.

You clearly don't know about the actual warhammer maneuver then as it was more than just taking a crap underwater - it was about how it was done and definitely is SB legend as the Chairman confirmed above...

Warhammer's claim to fame!

A later video demonstrating the "technique" made the rounds here too:
