Just booked the flight on Continental - fares are lower than I've seen them in several years.

I'm ready to go NOW!

OK.............now you have our interest and the hook is in our mouths............How much?

Just booked flights in May with Cont. on miles and it was a pain in the a#*! to get the dates we wanted. Wanted to stay 11 days but would have had to use $70k miles each and it's certainly not worth that.

AUS <=> CZM airfare was (and still is as of 15 minutes ago when I was checking for someone else) $398, down from a high of over $1150 (!) two years ago. That's on Continental, changing planes in HOU, for a stay of 12 days.

Very nice indeed Gordon. Maybe I should just purchase the tickets and save my miles. How did you get your quote, direct or from TA?

$487 roundtrip from Tulsa. Same flight I am already booked on with miles. 12 days.....outstanding. When are you going?

To your other question - I booked directly on Continental's website. Usually I shop and agonize for weeks; this time the time span from "It's time to start looking at air fares" to "Book 'em, Danno" was all of 2 minutes. When you find a good air fare, you gotta jump on it.

We go May 12. I'm ready now.

We'll be on the same plane out of Houston if your going on the morning flight arriving CZM at 11:30. Where ya stayin? We'll be at FA. Have yet to decide on DO yet. After all my love of Aldora, I'm going a different direction this trip. Not sure if it'll be DWM or who but we want to dive Nitrox with other Nitrox divers for sure. Aldora won't guarantee all divers will be nitrox unless there are four or more divers don't want to bank on that during low season. Kinda tired of paying so much for gas and then leaving so much of it on the boat. If you'll all not on the same gas then your not going to benefit from the longer BT's. Sorry to hijack the thread.........a bit off topic.

Back on topic..........I'm going in June and the best price I've seen is $600.00 from Chicago. Think I should wait to book? Seems mighty high.

On the Continental website, I see a fare of $516.78 when I plug in June 1 to June 8 for ORD<=>CZM. Funjet's website quotes a 7 night air and hotel package for two persons June 5 - June 12 (staying at the cheapest hotel in their list) at $1123, if I navigated their site correctly, which sounds like a pretty good deal, and the flight times are good, too.

As to when to book in general, it's really hard to say; you just have to keep checking all the options and jump when something looks good, knowing full well that something better could come along after you're committed and can't change. There is no magic solution; if you wait, it could go up or down, you never know.

If you are flexible and can go with short notice, both Funjet and Adventure Tours have a "Hot Deals" section where they fill up the plane with cheap fares at the last minute. I have had friends meet me in Cozumel from Houston for 99 bucks.

Oh, and check Bay Adventures' website, too; they may be able to hook you up.

Good luck.
