Thalassamania:
Hardly: Buddy Holly, Elvis, etc. then Motown then Byrds and all their offshoots through CSN&Y, Flying Burritto Bros., etc. San Francisco including Airplane, Dead, Big Brother, Youngbloods, etc. and lets not forget Dylan, the Band, Baez, etc. Sure the Brits made some good music, but "the best?" Hardly.

Hellooooo...Hendrix, Joplin.

squidster:
Irish Bands are best Van Morrison,U2,The Chieftons,Clancey Brothers

You missed out Rory Gallagher, my own personal God. He was no where near as famous as he deserved to be so I'm on a mission to educate people about him. Even the Edge out of U2 ackowledges he was a massive influence

Lol!

BTW not heard of most of those bands! I do love a bit of Motown though... Please don't flame me, I'm not 30 yet :D

No problem...I am here to help....

Best old band: Queen
Best less old band: Queensreich
Best new band: Evanescence
Best British guitarist (living): Eric Clapton
Best American guitarist (living): George Lynch (I exluded myself due to my humble nature)
Best dead guitarist (any country) Tie: Stevie Ray Vaughn/Jimi Hendrix

Ignore any following responses that do not agree with this list...they are evil people trying to corrupt you. Upon request, I have backup data to confirm my choices...but their should be no follow up questions.

So let it be written, so let it be done....;)

Has this thread been hijacked enough?

Anyway talking about music is much more interesting that all the bad feeling that was flying around about continuing ed..

How bout this...Rory is the best dead guitarist who didn't use a pick(?)

He used a combination of pick and finger style... but I don't think many other divers care :-)

He was definately the best dead guitarist in a Plaid shirt. But to me, and many others, best guitarist living or dead period.

Best dead rock/blues guitarist dont forget Duane Allman, where can i get some of that Roy Gallgher music
Celtic divers rock!
