I read somewhere that there is a reef by content keys. What I read said you may want to check it out when the Atlantic side is rough as the gulf side is more protected. It also said it might be a better place for snorkling rather than scuba. Anyone know anything about this area...is it even worth checking out?

It's OK for lobstering in the area, not much to see. It's worth going snorkeling back there when the seas are up.

I scared the hell out of myself there once. I was snorkeling up this narrow channel and the tide was going out, next thing I know a 3-4 foot barracuda is in my face. He turns hauls butt spins around and comes up in my face again. He does this another 4-5 times. I realize I'm the cork in the bottle and the water is draining off the flat. He's upset. I stood up and he just darted by, I was worried about him taking an ankle on the way out.

It's a long drive thru some not so well marked channels from Bahia Honda. The vis is variable but we had 50' once.A few fish and quite a few bugs.

I wouldn't go there unless you're with someone who knows the area very well.
