Greetings and thank you for reading.
I have been diving for just over 17yrs, have a little over 750 dives, certified to tec deep, currently a sidemount diver, and I have a degree in marine ecology.
Diving saved my life!!
I grew up with a lot of trauma...like many others...and at 25 when I was near finishing college, had no idea what to do in life...I somehow found scuba and it changed my whole world! I LOVED IT!!
However, the dive sites in my area I have done [many over 100 times]...I do not have a boat...there are no more charters in the San Juans...and I will have to drive an hour or more each way to new sites....and with 7 and 9 yr old boys [who are not into scuba]...I just do not really feel the appeal anymore.
So, before selling all my gear [a one way street]...I am reaching out to this community to see what was it that you did AFTER giving up scuba that filled you up?
I did recently buy an inflatable fishing kayak...that, I just now while typing this thought about maybe trying to dive off of...but, with SM tanks, might be a bit of a learning curve...which...might open up new things...
Anyway, any feedback on what you did after diving that kept you sane, is much appreciated!! My best to you reading this
