I am guessing that the reference to "decompression" is just poor journalism?

Two accidental deaths on Saturday | Matangi Tonga
Nuku'alofa, Tonga

Police reported two accidental deaths on Saturday, 5 September that included a diver who died from decompression while diving in Tongatapu, and a man who fell from a van.
Chief Superintendent Tevita Fifita confirmed today, the first death was a 33-year-old man from Havelu residing in Patangata.
He was one of six fishermen who went out fishing close to Patangata early Saturday morning.
The victim had used an air compressor to dive for fish, which is illegal. One of his fellow divers noticed he did not come up and when they pulled him up he had already died, said Fifita.

The compressors scare the hell out of me.
