Hello,

DHM recently published a fairly comprehensive and up to date overview of most aspects of decompression sickness and arterial gas embolism (collectively referred to as decompression illness). It was originally written as a book chapter but the book is currently on hold. The DHM paper will be available on PubMed central but has not quite made it there yet so I have attached it here. It can be freely distributed. Many of the questions that arise on the forum about decompression sickness pathophysiology and treatment are answered, and there is a fairly comprehensive bibliography. Hope you find it useful. I'm the author so am happy to answer any questions that arise in this thread.

Thanks Simon, will read later tonight.

Hello,

.... a fairly comprehensive and up to date overview of most aspects of decompression sickness and arterial gas embolism.....

A great 'encyclopedia' of DCS & AGE all in a One Stop Shop article. Couple of zingers included too.

I finished reading this yesterday. Thank you for such a brilliant paper so comprehensively and clearly summarising so much information. With my new found knowledge I feel like I’m pretty much qualified as a hyperbaric physician.

Awesome!

Hate to be "that" guy but early on in page 1, "bed which uaually prevents bubbles from reaching the arterial circulation."

EDIT: I know you didn't ask but figured I'd just toss it your way in the event you wanted to know.
