My daughter is considering grad school at UNCC.
Since we are not from that area my question is about living in the UNCC area.

Is it relatively safe - any does or dont's to know about?
Condo's look relatively inexpensive compared to Raleigh - any thoughts on purchasing a condo/townhome in that area?

Thanks!

I am living here for past almost 10 years and I feel pretty safe. There are some places that are safer then others but in general it is not bad at all. University area is pretty decent.

I think you are going to have to go and check out particular condos. There are certainly plenty of safe areas and then some that aren't as good. You shouldn't have any problem finding what you are looking for. Charlotte is kind of broken up into into little miny cities and she'll probably find that most people she is in school with who are her age do live in the area. There are some other great places to live for young people but they can be a hassle with traffic.
