Cancun area scuba options?

Heading to Cancun area next week and looking to do some diving. We are staying at the EL cid hotel marina riviera. Which is actually in the town of Puerto Morelos

I am certified, but wondering if there are any close scuba shops that will do “resort” diving for my daughter (who is not certified yet). Then also maybe have wife and son tag along for snorkeling.

Is there also snuba in this area for maybe all of us to do as well? I have even thought about trying to do a trip with a shop by myself since I am certified.

Any suggestions?

I dove with Scuba Total a few years ago. Aldo (the owner IIRC) is very competent, and he helped me when I had a minor accident.

I'd dive with him/them again.

Just dove down there with Diving Cancun. Sea and Cenotes - Nurkowanie Cancun. Morze i Cenoty
Probably my best dive experience to date.

It's a bit to your south, but personally I've had nothing but great experiences with Akumal Dive Center.

Thanks for the recommendations. Will keep them in mind. After some research, there appears to be a BOATLOAD of dive shops and facilities that offer diving in the area by our motel. No need for reservations either. Will make sure we get down there first (especially with all the IT airline delays recently) and then pick a place

Some are out of the hotel (& probably fairly crowded) while others offered a “private” experience (assuming on a much smaller boat). Either way, I plan to have a good time

Well, I got there with no problems and was able to do some dives. Great stuff. Daughter did the “discover scuba” and loved it. definitely now wants to get certified. Will look into some dive shops when she goes back to school in murfreesboro, tn (Nashville area)

Glad everyone enjoyed the trip. I saw this thread late but would have recommended staying in PM to dive. The shop I used on past trip is closed now but I will be in the area again next Feb. - great area to dive along the Riviera Maya coast. Who did you dive with? Anything in particular good or not so good about them?
