Question for those who might be knowledgeable about this subject. What would 4 1/2 feet of depth at 8,200 feet be at sea level, what would be the comparable depth?

The depth would be the same. The pressure at elevation is slightly less. Is that what your asking? Id have to break out the books to figure it out exactly.

Boxcar: My recommendation is that you take an altitude diving course. Don't dive beyond your training...

With that said, at an altitude of 8,000 feet above sea level, there will be a correction factor of 1.34.

That means that the difference between 4.5 feet and the surface at sea level, would be the same as 3.36 feet and the surface at 8,000 feet above sea level.

Can somebody check my math?

Thanks for the info. long story as to why I need that info. but I certainly won't be diving at 8,000ft.. Thanks though

Oooooh, I love pie. Make mine apple.

Hehe, apparently you paid even less attention in math than me :D...Pi is 3.1415-and on and on...I had a friend in 8th grade who memorized Pi out to the 82nd decimal or something..

In terms of nitrogen loading/dcs, 5 ffw (feet freshwater) at 8200 ft altitude is about equal to 3 ft freshwater at 0 ft altitude.

That said, they're both still 10 ft dives (sea level) table-wise.

Or is it Dyslexia.........Uh.............opening door........placing head against jam...........slamming door..........zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Haha, no worries..Ever seen that bumper sticker that says "Dyslects of the world untie!"? Yeah, I always thought it said "Unite!"...finally I was cruising down the highway with my girlfriend and was like "what the #&@! is with that sticker?" and she burst into laughter. It took her at least five minutes to compose herself enough to squeak out "it says untie." I felt reaaaaaaal bright!
