Commercial urchin diver drowns in the Bay of Fundy, in New Brunswick, near the Maine border.
Parts of the Bay of Fundy are home of the world's largest tides (up to 30'/10 m, although yesterday they were about 13'/4 m in the area of the fatality), and currents can be substantial. It's also winter North Atlantic water. (Yesterday's temps from the Eastport, Maine buoy: Air=31F, water=36F.) The news report mentions police received the call just after 4 pm, which would have been roughly an hour after high tide (3:09 pm). The article also mentions the deceased owned a dive shop, and there are only a handful in the whole region, so although a name doesn't seem to have been publicly released yet (per the TOS for this forum), probably many local divers will know him.
