Ditto on the gloves. I dive a DUI crushed neoprene with an old Viking jumpsuit type underwear. I use the rubber "Viking" style gloves and cuffs with wool liners and stay fairly warm. Make sure you wear a few layers on your feet too. I use cotton socks, then wool, then the viking booties. (Can you tell I used to dive with a Viking?)

I prefer my AGA full face mask in anything less than 50 degrees. It uses more air, but is very comfortable.

You should not use cotton directly against the skin, either feet or body. Cotton does not wick moisture (sweat from suiting up, and normal body perspiration) away from the skin. You will be colder with those cotton garments than without them. Use polypropylene or other wicking materials, as drl suggested, for your socks or long johns underneath your normal exposure suit. If you don't want to "foot" the bill for poly socks, use two pair of wool.
