I don't know or really care if they upset someone. From some of the pundants I've seen I didn't think they had any real clue about what types of tracks or equiptment was what.
Generals may know military stratagy but when it comes down to it they don't work with the equiptment and may not know what it looks like. They train on how to deploy eq and forces and what those forces can do.
When I was in the army we had the ADC (Assist Division Cmd)which is a one star Gen who was giving us grief. It was close 5:00 PM and we were getting ready to go to the last formation. We were waiting on one the Sgt's in our section to finnish up with a track when the Gen came up and made a sarcastic comment about "Just how many people does it take to work on one track" Most of our section was there and of course the track's crew was there as well. Before anyone could say anything back a Spc 4 in my section answered back and informed the General that the Sgt was giving an improv class and for the next 10 min filled the Gen with more BS than you could imagine. When the General decided he had seen enough he offered congrats to the Sgt for his fine work and wished that there were more solders like us so dedicated to training and improving our knowledge.
As to the Britts and the SAS - during reforger in germany a group "captured" and American 2end Lt. They left him buck naked and tied to a tree, funnest thing I have ever heard of.
So if a brit made a fool out of a General over what kind of troops they were or eq they were useing it wouldn't supprise me at all. I don't think it would be to hard to do.
