I'm pretty sure that he was joking about the cleaning out Haigh.

As far as heating the water. Doing that at Blue Springs wouldn't hurt anything. I'm pretty sure that the flood actually put more life in it. I think I saw a craw dad!! There were a ton of geese as well.

It's a quarry. it's an unnatural thing to begin with. Old boats, motor cycles etc have nothing to do with vis, but provide habitat for fish. Why remove them? In doing so you are harming the ecosystem, not helping it. You also degrade the viability of the quarry/dive operation. Please explain why what you are doing is a good idea. It makes no sense.

Unnatural? How dare you call this work of nature, unnatural? As soon as they removed the pumps it filled up with water, how much more natural do you want?

These objects are down there polluting the entire natural quarry with their filth. Fish swim in and out of them, stuff is inhabiting them now, now that my non-friend is unnatural. Removing these things will improve the visibility as they are blocking my view from seeing past them. Do your realize when I'm one foot away from the boat they sunk, unnaturally I might add, the viz is only one foot!!!

Imagine the possibilities if that boat was removed, I could have atleast 10-20ft of natural visibility!!

It makes all the sense in the world. Let me know when you have a 5lb lift bag to donate. I need about 800 more.

Thanks,

Heating the water will promote alge growth. That will in turn choke everything off. Might as well feed the geese. Are you on the six year plan???

Heating the water will provide a more cozy environment for me when I start to remove all the objects in the quarry. See post above.

If you work on the lift bags, I'll work on the heating component. Does anyone out there have an extra fish tank heaters? I have two, it'll probably take a few more

Because 17 more generous donations in the last 3 hours I now need only 750 lift bags more. If you have two already that is a great start. I'm thinking 10 100watt heaters should work fairly nicely. Ensure they are redundant.

I don't mean to tee anyone off, but those objects have been rendered inert by ma nature. If you take a water sample you will discover that local run off is the worst offender and the geese flocks a close second. You may have forgotten that early 2008 northern Illinois had ALOT of rain. Thats the problem. You can pull everything you want out of the quarry and it will make no difference whatsoever.
Do yourself a favor an contact your local University extension or the state of Illinois and have a water sample tested. I'll bet you the facts will bare me out. Heck, I'll put a C note on it!
By the way the quarrying process is not something found in nature. Erosion maybe but not quarrying. That has nothing to do with nature. As an added bonus, you stand a chance to pollute the wells in the community by doing so.

Pump it out, hose it down and pump it out again. Then let it fill up like it did the first time the pumps were shut off.

My local watering hole Haigh Quarry has got alot of foreign objects I am going to remove this year. Boats, vehicles, and platforms that all need to be removed. These are unnatural phenomenons that need to be removed to purify the environment.

Who wants to donate lift bags? I need about 1000 5lb lift bags.

Jepuskar, count me in; I need an excuse to buy a lift bag or two! :D

One question, what kind of diversion are we going to use to distract Tina & the staff ???(I'm thinkin' they may not see things your way) ;)

Now don't go pissing Tina off this season. She is hosting my world record attempt this summer, and I don't need her closing the quarry because all her underwater goods were taken. :D
