Don't want to post here any reviews .. Justa link to the new product.

would be very interested to hear your opinion on this and same type of computers.

new Citizen watch/Computer

M_B,

The watch looks very nice pretty and nice, however my concern wi-ould simply be it's size and visibility underwater.

Personally I use a Uwatec Aladin Pro and find it nicely visible under water, although it is a pain to get the dive data from. I.e. you need a seperate unit.

I like Citizen Dive watches in general, and would probably be happy to use the dive computer as a backup to my Uwatec until it proved that it was in itself visible under water.

The other issue I have with Diving Watches, is that often the straps are kind of short and not strong enough. I like to be able to connect my lanyard through the dive computer, and I have to wear the watch over a dry suit or 7mm wet suit with thick gloves.

I hope this helps!

Paul

I had a chance to play with one in a store today. Very nice. Big enough not to have to squint at everything, small enough to wear as a watch, but realistically you'd only want to wear it in a diving environment, otherwise it's too big.
The strap is long enough to go over a wet suit, not long enough to also go over diving gloves. A good compromise size, IMHO.
I saw it in a watch store, so they didn't know anything about it and couldn't find the manual. Really too bad.
I did get it to map out a dive profile, the way my other computer software does, but it's on the watch face - cool.
List price is a ridiculous $850, but I've seen it on the web for $450. I'm tempted, but wish others had some experience to share about it.

on Gigabite has the earlier (air) version.

Its VERY nice. In fact, when I first saw it I was drooling.

Among other things the batteries are recharged by the cradle, so there is no need to open to case to change batteries. Thus, no seals to violate, and no problems with floods.... in theory anyway.

He has been told that his is firmware flashable, and he's considering it (no idea what they want to charge for that.)

For a single-mix Nitrox computer, I'd be all over this thing in a heartbeat. The on-screen dive graphing is extremely cool.

Before buying one, I'd like to know at least these basics:
1. What kind of NDC algorithm does it use?
2. Can you turn off the alarms? The Citizen dive watches have ultra sensitive rapid ascent alarms (they go off if you reach your hand up to dump air out of your BC) that can't be silenced. Does this have it too?
3. How easy is it to read at depth?
4. Does it use graphics to show where you are re: DCS and other limits?
5. Is it easy to navigate through its various windows and functions?
6. What's up with the little picture of the fish (is it a shark?) on the display?

1 The ndx uses a Canadian mlitary algorithm.
2.Alarms for depth/time can be set and turned on or off.
3. Will have to let you know in a couple of weeks.
4. NO. There are some graphs you can display.
5. Function are easy to find. No great nesting of menus.
6. You can download graphics from a large selection provided or your own graphic. The graphic changes each day.
7. The watch does not have a flash memory.
8. Two models are availble one in meters the other in feet. You can not change from one to the other on the watch. You will have to fight with citizen to get this information. (I am a citizen dealer)

Sorry the firmware is not flashable (too bad).
