I am getting ready to do a dive in Cherokee lake next week. Are there any local divers who have good info on this lake? Things such as temp at depth? What is the viz like at surface and at depth? I'm going to be looking for a friends 4000 lb dock anchors and from what I'm hearing the viz at depth could make this an interesting challenge.

Thanks!

Well, the dive is done and it was some of the more challenging conditions I've seen in a while. From 25 ft to 35 ft viz was absolutely zero. I had to put my computer against my mask to even see it. Below that I hit a thermacline and finally got some viz back (approx 3-4 ft) and it was dark like a night dive. It was like this all the way to 60 ft which was the deepest area I found. Needless to say I would not recommend this for your average recreational dive, but I acutally did have fun. My only problem was that I was unable to locate the dock anchors I was looking for but I would have had to run right over them to find them. Maybe next time.
