Another vote for Turtle Reef-hands down. There's an occasional current to deal w/ at Sunset. Turtle has more abundant healthier coral formations. Large grouper spotted there as well as a zillion tarpon who allow you to come in close. Easy entry. Bonus-the best Mudslides are at Macabuca:)

Turtle Reef is one of my favorite sites in GC. At the mini wall you're probably somewhere in the 40-60' range, and at the main wall, it's as deep as you want to go. From the mini-wall, heading south, there's small alcove where you can usually find huge tarpon hanging out. Heading north, is a variety of colorful hard and soft corals. On the main wall you can find awesome sand chutes, corals, and often turtles.

We just dove both yesterday. The main wall is a super easy kick out. The topography is a mix of west wall slope and north wall pinnacles. It's not dived much and in very good shape except for some minor bleaching of staghorn coral which is a bit disturbing. The mini wall going south is looking rather grim. I think the run-off from Dolphin Discovery is having a serious impact on this part of the reef. Going north, the mini-wall is still quite healthy.

As the owner of Off The Wall Divers, one of the operators out of the Lobster Pot Dive Center (house reef Cheeseburger Reef), I've come to be a fan of "Cheeseburger". One thing that is usually not noticed is the abundance of life in the shallows - box crabs, flounders, sea slug (more than the lettuce leaf), squid, etc. If you get the chance to enjoy Cheeseburger Reef, please do so.
Turtle Reef has always been a great dive and we love it on our days off and for night dives.
Many thanks//Tom Shropshire/Off The Wall Divers

Thanks, Tom. I think I will give it another try. I do have fond memories of diving CheeseBurger Reef at night right after Hurricane Ivan. There was no power on the Island, hence no ambient light, and the dive did provide some fun for us.

Hey Tom, nice job responding and Alex nice job responding to the response. . I'll give CB Reef a try next time down. There were some neg reviews on Eden Rock/Grotto on SB but when we were down last april we ended up going twice to Eden Rock/Grotto because we enjoyed it so much. Yes it is not a pristine virgin reef but it was interesting with the swim throughs and terrain and was not nearly in the condition described by some. The op was fine and the set up easy. We did dive on a non cruise ship day and early morning which I think made a big difference.. We will give CB reef a try.
