I'm going on the Scubaboard Invasion trip, but am looking at staying an extra week. The second week I'm looking at keeping my cost as low as possible. I'm looking for cheap, cheap lodging. All I require is a clean room, bed, working a/c and of course showers. Needs to be within walking distance of the square and downtown dive piers so that I do not need to rent a car.

I've thought about looking into the Hostel, but not sure if I really want to stay in an open dorm room. If there is something like this for $20 a night would be great. I know that price is unlikely, but I can dream right.

Hotel Posada Edem just quoted me $28 dollars a night. It a nice small hotel clean place and good hot water and air.You can also get a fridge if you ask which is nice to have.Suites Vima should give you a room for around $30 per night on 10th street between 4th and 6th south.Suites is super clean with great air,tv,fridge and great owners.

Hotel Pepita or Suites Bahia. Lots of cheaper choices and some you will have to bring your own toilet paper-- but none are unsafe.

Dave I'm open to any and all suggestions. Including the cheapest places you know off.
I've heard of hotel Pepita. Can you tell me more about it. Do they have a web site?

Thanks njones259. Do you have contact information for these 2 places?

. I'm not Dave but will take a run at your question since i have had friends stay there. Last I checked, they did not have a website and I don't even know that they take reservations. No English. My friend loved it. He normally has a wife and kids in tow and they usually stay high end. But he was batching it. Clean, inexpensive, friendly guests who congregate in the common patio area and you can't beat the location. I personally looked at Suites Vima and was very impressed for the price. No website and no English again when I looked. Another place I have stayed at is Costa Brava. Slightly more expensive but not much. Across from Punta Lungosta. English spoken by the owner.

I don't know about occupancy when you are going but you may have time to visit each place and decide which works for you. Be aware of locations relative to noise sources if that matters to you.

I think that I have made walk up reservations at both Pepita and Mary Carmen.

I'll be there in early-mid July.

I have stayed at Suites Bahia on a couple of occassions and found them to be more than adequate! It was very clean and comfortable and very close to the plaza.

I just now checked prices on several sites and it appears the going rate is $42/night for a standard room. Personally, I would probably spring the extra coins to have a place of this quality.
