1.Crew got drunk on Avalon and left me in charge of their boat with a cell number to call if something bad happened.drbill:Out of curiosity what was your bad experience on the Vision. PM me if you prefer not to post it here. TIA.
2. The filter won't allow me to reproduce the words the crew loved to use on a regular basis but telling an underage girl they shave their own balls is unprofessional at best.
3. Never got to a dive site before 9:30 in the morning, EVER. Twice during the trip they motored for two hours only to return to the previous spot. Appeared lost.
4. Boat left nearly an hour late the first night as we waited for a crew members girlfriend to arrive.
5. After the first dive crew never watched anyone enter the water as they were too busy having fun. We started making fun of it as we gave the OK sign to the invisible crew member.
6. Crew only rarely offered help to passengers getting off the swim platform. One time while when we had 4 divers on the platform at once and two crew members ignored them I went down to offer help. Then the crew members noticed and offered me to hand up the fins and stuff to them.
7. As badly hung over as the crew was, including their "safety" diver, not a single passenger felt they were being cared for nor did they feel safe.
8. A generally surly attitude prevealed from some crew to go along with rude comments. A couple of divers would air off their dust caps and the crew member would snarl at them and tell them that they'd have to start providing hearing protection. This isn't bad in itself but it was pretty much how most things were handled.
9. One of our passengers got drunk along with the crew. When he came back to the boat he hit his wife. 3 crew members tackled him and this was good. What wasn't so good was John punching this passenger in the face several times while he was held down. I liked the drunk being hit but it wasn't professional. We insisted that our paying passenger be arrested and he was, no problem there. Of course being drunk a couple of crew members went a bit overboard with language screaming at the top of their lungs terms like M-fer and C-sucker. Dozens of times.
10. After returning from their drunken party some of the crew and a couple of gf's along with a couple of our divers stripped naked and jumped from the boat into the water. I appreciate nudity as much as the next guy but again, it sure wasn't professional and we did have a couple of 10 year olds on board.
Some of us were asleep until the crew returned because we actually thought we were going to go diving again but the shouting and screaming from the party on deck woke everyone up.
On the other hand the galley staff was amazing. Kelly deserves to work with a professional crew and I'm very sad for her. Those few of us who tipped gave our money directly to the galley crew.
The shop I instruct for has reserved two trips for next year but it appears that will change. I doubt very much that Truth Aquatics cares in the least if we go someplace else. Two full boats isn't 1% of their business. We would return if we got on the Conception with Jerry but it appears he's already booked. If that doesn't change we're done with them and will go elsewhere.
With Jerry's crew I had 5 more dives over the length of the trip and of course his crew is sharp. Tommy is a nice enough guy but it appeared he wants to be friends with his crew.
My personal thing is I want our customers and our students to think of me as a good resourse. I always send them to places where I know they'll have a great time. Right now my value to them has dropped.
