You are planning a dive vacation in the Caribbean. You have read in the guidebook that the Hurricane Season extends from June 1 to November 30. But, given the time of year you plan to go, what are the real chances of losing days of diving due to a hurricane or tropical storm? The attached chart displays the frequency of hurricanes and tropical storms in the Atlantic and will give you a good general idea.

The period from August 20 to October 20 is the period of highest activity and should probably be avoided unless there are compelling reasons to go then. The period from August 1 to November 10 is a period of moderate activity - what I call the "true" hurricane season. For the rest of the year, your chances of losing diving days to the weather are minimal.
