This is too cool for words (or Karl simply has too much time on his hands).

We’re still working on the overall t-shirt design for the Flying Dutchman and we’re trying to figure out what to put on the front of the shirt, since it seems like the back is the best place for the Flying Dutchman logo. Karl came up with a great idea.

He’s wants to list all the names (see above) in the shape of a skull on the front of the shirt. Not only will this look cool, but it also means that if you’re signed up for the Dutchman, your name (or your pirate name) will be on the shirt. But . . .

We need a LOT more names than we have right now to make this work. So, if you’re not able to dive on the Chamber Day, give some thought to signing up for the Flying Dutchman. Not only will you help our Chamber, not only will you get a really great-looming shirt, but it’ll be a shirt with YOUR name on it.

Give us a call at 310/652-4990 or sign up through the web at www.chamberday.org.

We are tantalizingly close to $20,000 . . .

We want to give a thank-you to Horizon Charters in San Diego for their Silver-level $500 contribution. And we’ve added a number of Bronze-level donors too. But we haven’t quite cracked $20,000 yet. But just a couple of more donations and we can cross that magical mark.

So . . . Who’s next? Who’s ready to join the growing list of divers, clubs, stores, boats, and others who are willing to make sure that our Catalina Chamber functions at peak efficiency? Who will help push us towards $20,000??????

I just got off the phone with Ron Mateas who's the point man for Paramount Petroleum and the guy heading up the spill cleanup efforts at Queen's Wharf. Ron tells me that as of 8AM this morning, the landing is back up and running and good-to-go. So this should NOT have any impact on us for Chamber Day on Wednesday, which is certainly a relief to hear.

Yahoo!!! We passed $20,000 in the Chamber Challenge. But we’re not done yet . . .

A big thanks to Don Lake, whose $500 Silver-level contribution passed us past the magic $20K mark. We’ve still got two days to go until Chamber Day/Eve 2007 and we’re still short of where we ended up last year. Don’t get me wrong - this is a terrific pace. But we’ve still got some work to do and there are still some of you who have donated in the past from whom we still haven’t heard.

So how about it? Who’s next? Who’s ready to propel us closer to last year’s record total of $25,000??????

CHAMBER DAY COMMEMORATIVE BOOK
Orders for 25 books so far. Needless to say, we’d like to sell a lot more.

Two days to go and still time to boost these numbers if we all pull together to do so. The finish line is in sight and now’s the time for the extra push.

OK, who from SB is going to the Chamber Dinner? My husband and I will be there, sitting at the Laguna Sea Sports table:D

The wife and I will be at one of the open tables. We'll be lucky to get there by 7.

Very nice Ken. I like that! Can't wait to get it.

Nice shirt, love the name idea, very personal

Ken, I also think you should get to assign a pirate name to anyone who didn't give you one of their own. Just add "bilge rat" "plank walker" or some such thing as a middle name.
