I haven't heard any rumors of them closing, but I have heard the owner complaining of rising insurance costs and dwindling attendance. He also raised the entry fee last year, which resulted in some of us going there much less often.

So the why is easy. The question is whether it is true.

All these years on scubaboard, reading and appreciating so many of your posts and I never realized you were in St Louis, and now that I think about it we may have met at Cerulean a couple of years ago! Maybe but I've been known to be  about things like that:D

What did he raise the price to this year?

I can understand the insurance issue---most of it in scuba diving is a real price gouge IMO.

I like diving there but it is a long haul unless I can make two or three days out of it.

Thanks for making my day! Someone appreciates some of my posts! Only one of my real-life dive buddies has ever said that to me before.

Price is now $20 per day. For that price you can dive Mermet Springs, with 2 sets of clean air banks and Nitrox fills, repairs and rentals, on-site BBQ, gear assembly tables under pavilions, etc. etc. etc. Plus you can do deep dives at Mermet.

I made several trips to Cerulean a couple years ago, so it is possible we met. Only one this past year, and that was in the Winter on a Sunday when Mermet was closed.

Will be diving at Mermet the weekend of Oct 14-15 if you'd like to come diving with us and hang out.

It would be a real shame to loose Cerulean. Its the only quarry I can ever get my wife into...she hates cold water. I have been a couple of times and I think its a great place to dive.

I heard the same rumor but earlier in the year. Since I didn't make it down this year, I may never get to dive it. We shall see.

I know of a few divers that were there (Cerulean) in Aug., but I can't say beyond that. I haven't been there myself since May. To be honest, I've spent most of my time down at Pennyroyal, because it is a deeper quarry & has some of the nicer ammenities like Mermet (the only thing about Mermet is the distance from me).
