Well after numerous snags along the way I'm pleased to say that my wife and I both became PDIC certifed OW divers this morning! The gear is cleaned and drying and we're planning one or two dives tomorrow. It will be awesome to do it all at our own pace. For me it's essentially been a life long dream realized at 48. For her it's something she never imagined doing and it's still sinking in as it is for me.
Everything went great on the skill and free swim dives and I owe a lot of it to what I have learned here. I could hear many of your voices as the instructor went up over a boulder and rather than fussing with the inflator I increased my lung volume and over I went and with some deeper exhales swooped down the other side.... wow!
I always enjoyed the 3 dimensional freedom of of skindiving but this truly takes it up a whole order of magnitude. We probably had 10 feet of visibility, and that was more than adequate for a great experience. Wildlife included;lobster, skulpin, startfish, crabs hermit crabs and flounder and stripped bass.
I want to once again thank all of you seasoned divers who again coach novice divers though essential techiniques. I will do my best to contribute to this comminity.
Thanks again,
Pete
