Exactly! If you want skin rather than scuba, leave - go to the skin sites not blocked by your office, come back when you want to talk scuba. I'd hate to see SB blocked by some filters because it became "more liberal."

Since the Surface Interval is an Opt-In forum it is not visible to the outside world. If you do a Google search nothing from an Opt-In forum will come up, so there is no concern about this getting SB banned from servers for this reason.

Denniss, copyright is indeed another reason - as all pics are copyrighted. If you're suggesting the posting of pics from a source other than your own personal camera, then you get into that area. Sprearboard may be small enough to overlook, but SB would probly attract more attention from the offended legal departments.

Perhaps you should start greeting all of our new board members with a body cavity search, to make sure they are not here to cause trouble or do any free thinking......

The Spearboard Bikini Thread - Spearboard Spearfishing Community

There is a good example. page one of that thread includes pics, all of which were professionally shot, posted by members who do not have legal ownership to the copyrights, and post #3 violated the "no see thru" prohibition - she may as well have been topless. :11: Well, shot from the side in that suit she may as well have been nude.

A good example of why the idea fails. ;)

As a photographer I try to stay up to date on Copyright issues. The Fair Use Doctrine does allow the use of anothers artistic properties as long as you are not claiming it as your own work, and as long as you are not using it for commercial gain. The posting of pictures as they are being done does not hurt the value of the artistic property for the owner.

I'll be back in a bit. :D

That is why I don't frequent the non diving forums on this board but I don't complain that other people are in those forums talking about other things......so if you or your friend want to discuss something other than diving that is what the other forums are for.... just don't expect to get in them and start stuff and expect the mods to not do anything about it....and then start whining about censorship

I think that the issue here is jpuskar is using this board as a platform to troll just like in this thread.....he got what he was after by posting this thread....people on two or three sides with opinions;)

Ohhh please. So whenever somebody decides to speak up with their opinion, an opinion that is not shared by others it becomes a troll? You don't even understand my post...I am not just talking about the non-diving related forums. I brought up the Wild West idea to be included with the SI as a non-diving thread that is very liberal...however, that was just one idea out of my entire post.

I am talking about loosening up the ENTIRE board...diving and non-diving sections. As Jeff pointed out to DD, you are already rejecting the idea even when nothing has been established. I dont make the rules, I cant say what could be tolerated...not my board. But I can certainly question it and post about it....hence this section.

One of the great things about this medium we are using right now is that you can hide behind it and boy do some people become brave. What happens when you get on a dive boat and a portion of the group uses language/innuendos you dont approve of? Are you going to spank them? Are you going to tell the scuba police? Are you going to ask to be returned to the dock because you are offended?? Or are you going to tell them you dont approve of their choice of words? I would love to see that happen.

Let's clear something up...

SB is here for the diving community as a WHOLE! This includes me, Missdirected, JeffG, and even you Dandydon. We all have different personalities, beliefs, needs/wants, and thresholds. The whole point of this thread and the sole reason for me posting is to simply state that right now, SB does not reflect the diving community in the manner in which is should. It should not cater to one groups beliefs/opinions no matter what side you are on. If you want to get into specific incidents, I don't have to look but to this very thread.

1) I have been told to go start up my own board.
2) It has been said this thread is stupid.
3) I have been accused of trolling.

These posters are on the other side of the spectrum from me and ofcourse they would say these things. Right now, SB is more reflective of their beliefs and they want to keep it that way. Doesn't seem like they really care about the dive communities diverse nature.

Just so I understand, can I post while I am naked or wearning no panties, is that a violation? Or can I do that and just not post pictures or talk about it?

Did you see that Homeland Security had a booth at the show?

On their table they had a spear gun, a half gallon of iced tea, an AL 80 & a bottle of rum. I think they were telling us that it is okay to get all boozed up and fly with a full tank and a spear gun.

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, don't even get me started on them.I was coming in Port Everglades cut yesterday, it was sloppy with all the wakes on a sunday afternoon and I was bouncing and rolling around. Next thing I know I see a bow next to my boat. I maintain speed and this guy starts yelling. I look over and it's homeland security. I tell him I'll meet him inside where it's calmer. He's still yelling and I call him on channel 16, no answer, now the guy is yelling and I can hear him say slow down, I'm doing about 10 mph ridiing the back of the waves. I slow and we're bouncing all over, this guy has his 3 ft rubber ball fender and then he's yelling, asking me, me where I've been, where am I going, I'm yelling back. Why the hell we couldn't use the radio or wait until we were inside is beyond me.

When he finished he replied, we do this all the time, well I don't! I don't think if falls under "operating in a safe and prudent manner" I don't think you'll see the coast guard pulling people over in an inlet.

effing morons, they ought to rename it again, homeland bureaucracy.

Okay, aside from the picture in post # 16 being slightly frightening, I don't see any problems with them. If you went to the 2nd page you will see that there were some pictures removed as being inappropraite.
