Remeber, the TOS states that posts need to be "Work Place Friendly". Nudie bars are work places for the strippers, and I'd be hard pressed to find a "Friendlier" work place.

As near as I can tell, if you pay to post the pic it is "workplace friendly" but if you post it gratis it is an abomination.

Ok, so I'm an old coot prude in some ways. I do respect the opinions of the handful posting here in favor of more liberal attitudes - including the OP, but I 'll still disagree. It's Scubaboard, for and about scuba and related topics. My Mspace page includes bikini models, fine - there, not here. I might even visit other sites for such - fine, there not here.

Nudie bars are Opt-In-Only. You can go to them, or you can not. You have to be at least 18, and in most cases 21, to go into a nudie bar. Same with the Surface Interrval.

Yeah we have bars and booze store here now, but Opt-in-Only is not an accepted excuse for nude bars to exist here, TG!

So Don, looking at your profile I see you are not even opted into the surface interval which leads to my next question, why do you want to control and force your opinions on a community you don't even belong to?

Exactly! If you want skin rather than scuba, leave - go to the skin sites not blocked by your office, come back when you want to talk scuba. I'd hate to see SB blocked by some filters because it became "more liberal."

So, the same goes for you. If you don't like the non-scuba discussion, there are other boards that will welcome you.

That is why I don't frequent the non diving forums on this board but I don't complain that other people are in those forums talking about other things......so if you or your friend want to discuss something other than diving that is what the other forums are for.... just don't expect to get in them and start stuff and expect the mods to not do anything about it....and then start whining about censorship

I think that the issue here is jpuskar is using this board as a platform to troll just like in this thread.....he got what he was after by posting this thread....people on two or three sides with opinions

Again you are trying to dictate a forum you are not even opted into, if you were you would know it very clearly states "non diving related topics" right at the top of the page. So am I left to assume every post you have ever made on ScubaBoard is diving related?

I don't have any problems with censoring 4 letter or more words. They're not really necessary.

What bothers me is the censorship of threads. The monitors come out sounding like they are scolding kids.

"children, you're getting too boisterous"

"stop it right now or I'm going to close the thread, right this minute"

"behave yourself young man, you're on mighty thin ice"

"That's it mister, you're getting a time out"

Let the threads go, most people will tire of them except for the final two-"is too" "is not" "is too" "you can't even spell"

If they must censor, censor the thread topics. When someone asks which is better, jacket or wing, close the thread and refer them to appropriate threads. Spare air, snorkel, What is dir and kudos to my favorite scuba store could follow.

As an old coot, you should remember an archaic idea that we used to call the first ammendment. You may also remember a time when people were able to take personal responsibility for themselves.
People could change the channel if they didn't like something. Today everyone expects someone else to tell them what is okay or change the channel for them. Kind of says a lot about our culture and the American spirit, huh? It's pretty bad that 90% of all recently enacted laws are designed to protect stupid people from themselves. It is also ashame that the government can take away so many personal rights under the pretense of "homeland security". It is an absolute travesty that Russian citizens now have more rights than we do. But hey, if people are more comfortable letting other people tell them what is right or wrong, I guess it makes sense. Too bad we didnt become so lacsidasical 200+ years ago. We could have saved ourselves the headache of forming a new country and laws that had civil and religious rights as a priority
