FLTEKDIVER:
thanks!! I have a question, how do you "add" your 02 or trimix at depth on converted dolphin to ccr? Is it manual? I would think you have your tri-mix bottle for depth, and your 50/50 mix, or o2 bottle and diluintent for travel/deco?
O2 is added through a kiss valve. I use trimix as diluent to reduce the nitrogen in the loop. It is not like OC diving. I only carry 1 bailout tank seperate from the rebreather.
There is no need to carry travel/deco gasses because the mix can be changed at will to provide the best mix for the current condition. For instance, at 20ft stop I clear the loop of dil by exhaling through my nose then press the o2 add button, viola, instant deco mix.

Wedivebc,

Too late I aqlready bought the conversion kit and the dolphin is on e-bay as a SCR.

You must be the diver that Ron was on the way to help build his CCR Dolphin when he stopped in Seattle on the way there.

I am glad to hear that you are liking it. I liked the KISS during the cert class, but the cost, when I already have the dolphin was the deciding factor for.

I am in BC later in December and then again in Jan 05, so maybe we can get together and dive.

In addition, Ron is coming to Seattle 12-15 December to work with me on the build and some finer points of the CCR Dolphin, if you are in the area, please join us.

Yes Ron was here and we had a blast! He is a good teacher and lots of fun to dive with. I would be glad to dive with you up here. Either dates should be OK. There is also a friend of mine in Victoria who has a converted dolphin and although I was the one who introduced Scott to the Kiss concept he made his first. It was a recent dive with him and seeing his unit work so well got me motivated to convert mine. I don't think you will have to twist Ron's arm too hard to come up here again either.

Diver Mike:
I just finished certification on my CCR and have a dolphin left over. I got to thninking that thismight be a neat basic unit to make into a CCR. Has anyone ever made a CCR from a Dolphin?

If so are there any links to parts, tips, construction steps, etc that might provide some guidance as to the feasability of a project like this.

Any estimates as to costs would also be approeciated.

Thanks,

I am just getting certified on my KISS CCR unit. I am trying to find other CCR divers in the Seattle area to go diving with. Let me know if you would like to get together in the future. E-mail me at flyingcash@hotmail.com
