Cool, then I'd research instructors together. The NAUI cavern/cave program is nicer than some of the alternatives IMO, you might consider that path.

The TOS limit our ability to recommend (or esp. not) instructors here.

Be careful though because once you experience the darkness, you may spend all of your college budget on diving caves. :D

its absolutely true! I am so broke right now trying to gear up for intro...

First it was "I guess I will take a cavern class, see what is so great about these caves"

8 months later, buying a set of doubles, a second reg, a canister light, primary reel...you get the idea.

To answer your question though Danny, I personally don't think there are any "bad" cave instructors, but I could be wrong. When you do decide on an instructor, talk to him/her about the gear setup you will be using. Take the others advice on the practicing in OW, ideally in the cavern setup so that you are acquainted with where your lights are located etc. Oh yeh, have fun with it...its a blast!

ScubaStud whatever you decide to do take your time be that in selcting an instructor to purchasing equipment for the type of diving you want. When making this committment it is best always to move wisely PM sent.

Rick;

Replied!

Thanks for all the info guys. It looks like it's going to be a lot of fun!

Danny

I have a couple buddies in CFL that I can do some cavern/cave stuff with :D

I'm always up for cavern/intro stuff if you find your way this side of FL. Course, there are those occasions I road trip out your way as well.

i don't want 'nice'. i want to live to enjoy it. 'nice' is a bonus.

so, anyway, i disagree with this statement...

Looks to me the first step would be to trade in the current ride for a white van. :)

You disagree that the NAUI progression has a nicer arrangement of skills and limits than some of the alternatives? Do you even know all the other agencies limits, I don't. And I don't care. But having 1/3rds and 2 navigational decisions (baby steps) is a good place for alot of divers to be in the middle of their cave diving career. Vs. no jumps at the intro level to many jumps at the full level.
