I was just browsing the Trident catalog and I noticed that they have "standard" tank valves and "cast" valves. Is there a reason to use one over the other? The milled ones, "standard," are about 20% more expensive.

A cast part uses less material, and requires less machine work.
There's no reason not to use a cast valve, it's still more than strong enough.
Scubapro uses a casting in the Mk 11 first stage to reduce milling and allow a high performance first stage at a very attractive price.
With steel parts, investment casting, lost wax casting and sinter forging have been used for decades in firearms receivers, including higher end rifles like the Shiloh Sharps as a means to reduce the machining needed on the final piece.

cast valves must be also milled out during process , as said reason is lower cost performance is same
