So, I reserved a spot on the Catalina Express for 12:15 PM based on my flight's arrival at John Wayne airport at 9:37 AM. Plenty of time to go to the hotel, check in, change then go to Downtown Landing...rightttt?

So, after a couple of mechanical delays, I got to John Wayne at 10:45. Baggage claimed and car rental, then finally burned some rubber at 11:15. Downtown Landing parking garage by 11:50. No problem...grabbed the dive bag and hit the ticket counter. Five minutes later, I was snoozing away on the Cat Express.

Got to Casino Point and found out that I left my regulator set in my carry-on. Not just my regulator set but my Atomic SS1 inline octo as well. So my BPW is worthless in addition to not having my regulator set. I ain't gotten this dive vacation thing down pat yet.:shakehead:

Rented from Catalina Divers Supply a tank, weight belt and now reg set & BC too. Another $60 down the drain. Jacket BC has the tank flopping about on my back. Weight belt choked the heck out of my beer belly. Scubapro regulator doesn't flow worth a damn. Inflator button is harder than heck to push. BUT the two dives were simply awesome after the lake divings I've been doing in Idaho!!!

Trim sucked, air consumption rate sucked, new mask fogged up like crazy (I thought I scrubbed it down good but apparently not). The best two dives I've done since my very first OW dives.

Saw the usual suspects: massive sheepheads & calico basses, fat perches, et al. On the second dive, I saw the biggest turbot I've ever seen. It was about a foot long. I teased it a bit, chased it around and then left it alone.

Oh yes, and the famous Dr. Bill was out to check on me too.

Um, I think it was the infamous Dr. Bill. If I were famous, I might actually be making some money.

Good to see you back at Casino Point.
