While I was on Bonaire, my car, parked at the Newark Ramada right in front of the main entry under the lights, was jimmied and my EZ-Pass and car registration was taken.

Everyone should avoid Newark and especially the Newark Ramada because of the rampant theft and the fact that the police will do nothing to recover my stolen items. The hotel doesn't care, the police don't care. I am outraged and will never set foot in Newark again.

BTW, I had nothing taken, or even looked at, while diving on Bonaire. No incidents what-so-ever. Bon Bini na Bonaire!!!

Sorry to hear that! We flew home via Houston, and though it was a long long day, flew home right to Ithaca. How was the rest of your time in Bonaire? I could not believe how much rain they had (and how buggy it was!)

Replace your EZ-Pass with a multipass!

Oh yeah. Newark police are really worried about your stolen registration and EZpass. I assume that both are priceless and can never be replaced.

Call the FBI. See if they want to help. See if they'll announce this on America's Most Wanted.

Talk about ranting about nothing...

Leaving nothing of value in your car works in many other places. I am surprised they left the car.

Why would the thief take those items? They probably don't even own a car!

Sorry for your troubles.

Note to self: Do not park car at Newark Ramada when traveling. And avoid Newark.

In a similar vein, every time I read about another rash of smash-and-grabs here in Atlanta I am tempted to post something comparing it with the relative serenity of Bonaire. In one incident on one night, in one part of Atlanta--a part not considered especially crime-ridden--thieves smashed the windows of 27 cars. Sadly, rashes of smash-and-grabs have become routine news.
