I dove with Slate in September 03. My 2 friends and I were the only one on the boat to the Grove. Boat wasn't in the greatest shape, but it got us there in back pretty quick. I would recommend them.

On the other hand, I dove Silent World another time I was down there, and I have nothing good to say abut them. I think it all depends on the day!

Slate's has about 4 boats now. A few of them need a little work, but the newer ones are nice, and fast.

I was at Amy Slate's last weekend. Amy Slate's (Capt's ex) has an awesome boat. They are VERY concerned for safety. The boat is in excellant shape and is real easy to get on and off. I dove with Cap't Slate more times than I care to count. The boats are usually crowded and I have NEVER seen them call a dive for conditions. Horizon Divers is good too!

PS - Stay in Florida City for $50

Divers City will go to the Grove at no extra cost. They are located at MM 90.5 (next to four other dive shops as mentioned in this thread).

I am sure the other shops are the best but Barbara and Kip simply have the best gear (steel tanks) and treat divers as mature adults (providing youy act like one).

They are non smoking too. That is something I can live with!
