I was kayaking capitola today too!!
Looking over the side thru the smooth water patches in the kelp I could tell there had to be at least 5ft viz and was telling my wife I have to come back and try a spearfishing dive there sometime soon.
How'd you do? I saw more than 1 rental boat returning to the pier with a halibut or 2.
