Oh, if only I could live in Ideal World, too, where support departments don't stink, computers never glitch, and fills are free (up to 40%... it may be Ideal World, but let's be realistic).

Lol . . .your response was a lot more civil than the one I was making up and then decided not to send. In theory, all sorts of stuff should be easy to do with a computer and the right software. Unfortunately, the real world does obey that theory.

Well I'll bite, been debating whether to post or not but screw it. 19 logged as of today.

And a thanks in advance...:)

- It would suggest that there is a lack of competency not a lack of time.
There is a lack of competency: vBulletin was never designed to run such a large community. We are simply out of its scope, and so we have to create ways to make it work: even on TWO mondo servers. At least the two hour hardware crashes are behind us. We are now back to tracking down the software issues that we had months ago when we moved to the servers with the overheat problem.

For those who think it's merely a matter of incompetence on our end: You have no idea how many professional coders and db engineers have had a crack at this. They have all given up: every one. FloridaCaveDiver has made a HUGE amount of headway in resolving our "We are way tooooooo HUGE" issues. He is way qualified (a Doctorate in CIS) and even more important: he CARES about this community.

Once we are confident that our core is completely stable. The rest of the hacks and mods will be implemented in short order. The real sign of incompetency is to rush things and complicate the real work of establishing stability. After all, what good is a hack if you can't access the board at all?

I thought I just had to wait until it was all fixed. Now I find out I can pay some fairy God Mother to add my 35 dives to my profile? How about my Advanced cert too?

Who do I write the check out to?

Hopefully, everyone one realises that this is not a quid pro quo situation. We are merely joshing about that! However, should you happen to "Go Red" because of us doing this for you, well we certainly won't complain! We could use the funds right about now. :D

Well Doc, since I'm already red, maybe it's time for another level of support, gold or purple or something for those of us without businesses. Supporter extrodinaire or since I spend 6 or more hours a day, SB ADDICT. P.S. Thanks for your and others hard work to keep this board going during this period when you could just shut it down until the work is done.

Oh, come on... like anybody would use this as an opportunity to get around to going red. Maybe you guys really *are* wackos. :D

Hey Net Doc and all the others working on this Board...my hats off to ya'll...your doing a great job with this board and the size issues. Lets get Bill Gates diving and sign him up on SB... I know ya'll could use that kind of help...:D

I can pretty much guarantee you that ScubaBoard does not run on Microsoft servers. If it does, I know what the problem is...
