To all the complainers about the dive profile...
If its such a big deal that you must complain about it... consider what a good resource this is! I looked around a few years ago for a "scuba board" and whether this one wasn't up or I simply didn't find it... here I am now.
I have already gone diving 3x with divers I met through this board and I haven't even been posting here for a month yet (note # of posts for this short time- can you say "addict in the making?"). I'm diving Wednesday (weather permitting) with 3 more s.b. types.
My dive shop has about 5 people who actively dive- and most of them have real jobs and real lives so they don't dive that often. And here I've found a place where complete strangers (and the occasional wacko- I'm waiting to go dive with one!) can meet- get to know eachother- and go dive.
Not bad.
No one said you had to pay to edit your dive profile but apparently they have someone who has volunteered her time to make this board a better place. And instead of being thankful and supportive, you make a snide comment. There is no reason for that. To anyone who is so upset that this board has been having problems: why don't you offer to volunteer YOUR time if you know so much?
Some people are posting anti-SB stuff in jest- and that's fine. I've done it too- it's funny, really, since I know SOMEONE SOMEWHERE is pulling their hair out (and probably didn't have a lot of that to start with
). But if you're seriously going to criticize the makers, creators, and all-mighty editors of this place... shame on you!
I'm sorry but it ain't easy to run ANY website... much less one of THE most POPULAR websites in all website-dom... and this one IS. The traffic is HUGE- and, sure they make money off advertising, commissions and subscriptions... but they pay out, too.
I am not red. I am simply flat *** broke. When I am no longer flat *** broke, I will probably pay to support this site. Wish I'd a thought of it...
I, for one, am thankful to the Fairy Dive Mother for all her work... and she does it without demanding cash up front! I don't know that I'd do it without a little green in my hand.
It's free. Quit whining.
