No, I didn't win the lottery so I'm not getting ready for that around-the-world dive trip. And I don't expect to see that vision of loveliness I've been seeking under the ocean for some 48 years.

However, today I received an e-mail from my son Kevin (23) who just returned from a week long cruise to Mexico with his Mom who recently got remarried. While down there, Kevin and his GF Mary tried a Discover SCUBA, and sent back pictures for me to identify. I wasn't impressed with the dive instructor who was practically out of sight. The important thing is he not only survived it, but now he is thinking of getting certified!

Although Kevin loved the water and we have snorkeled together, I thought he wouldn't be able to dive because of his asthma. Apparently it is not that bad and he may be certifiable! I've already offered him one of my "old" BCD's. What a cool early birthday present.

Hey DrBill that is awesome!

Hope to see you two diving together soon! :D

What a wonderful experience......Something that cannot be duplicated in any other way and one that you and he will long remember

I began diving with son (Dr.) Sam IV when he was just a toddler- I recall him being five years old he says he was six- and he has the logs- on his first open water ocean dive so long ago. Every dive was a memorable one for both of us. Now he is an ER/Hyperbaric Doctor in San Diego, a SSI Pro 5000, NAUI & PADI instructor, etc.

We send a big combined BRAVO! to you and your son..

Awesome!

My son and daughter will be doing a Discovery Scuba dive off the King Neptune on Father's Day. That's my idea of an appropriate present.

I, too, would greatly love to share this passion/obession with my kids.

...he may be certifiable! .

I know his dad seems certifiable. :D

That's great, Bill. Hope you can dive with him soon. My dad and I dived together for years when I was a kid. I few years back I dived with my oldest son. There is something very special about a father and son diving together.

Bill, I am sincerely very happy for you. I do hope that you will introduce us to Kevin sometime soon. Diving or not, spending time with my son and or daughter is very precious to me.

What a terrific Father's Day you are going to have.;)
The KN staff are among the best, you are sure to have a great day.

Dr. Bill, That is very neat. Makes a Dad proud. It also doesn't hurt that you gave your son a very cool first name.

I second Kevfin's sentiments, very cool Dr. Bill!

Hell I didn't even know my dad was a diver when I was growing up. Wasnt until I got certified we started talking about it...our garage even held some old gear I never knew about! Maybe I can get him in the water again, health permitting! Would be so cool!

I also second the awesome choice of first name for your son.:D

Hey, his mother chose the name. Never asked her why though.
