Canon S90 - do you always have diffuser on?

Hi,

I just got the s90 and WP-DC35 housing. I've read that folks use the diffuser that comes with the housing to reduce harsh shadows. I'm wondering if you always put the diffuser on whenever you use the internal flash? or do you only use it to shoot close (how close) subjects?

I think best to just keep it on with the leash attached. It is easy enough to lose otherwise. Also, using the in-camera flash without it results in shadows of the port which kinda blocks the flash.
