Hi all,

I had a quick search and couldn't find anything on this topic, although I imagine it's here somewhere

My Canon Ixus 70 (I think they're badged as 1000D in North America?) shut down the display mid-dive recently. Photo review and on-screen displays worked fine, but any photos taken just came out black and no live display on photo or video

After faffing around with resets etc I googled it and after reading lots of reports of the same problem & potential solutions, eventually gave the camera some percussive maintainence (ie hit it) as advised and behold it started working again. Was fine for a few days, then shut down again mid-dive. Gave it a few taps with my dive knife and it worked again, so far it's been okay ever since

I sent Canon Australia an e-mail and received a very unhelpful response that basically said that if I sent it back and they couldn't fault it at the time, they'd return it and charge me a service fee

Any advice?

Thanks,

S.
