Anyone ever see a metal detector that is a cannister with coiled cord to a wand coil? I just watched a show about the Atocha and the divers were hunting with the type of dectector that I described. Seems much easier than swinging the whole control box. I can't seem to find anything similar on the web.

Most of the underwater detectors can be setup this way.

The old Garrett SL500 (I think that is the model) was often used that way.

Did it look like this ?

Yes! That's the one. I Googled Aquapulse and found thier website. http://www.aquascan.co.uk/index.html
They even mention that the Mel Fisher Group is their biggest client. It looks like a pretty sweet setup. I'd love to get my hands on one.

I feel another thread comming on!

Thanks!

It looks like there are only two US vendors. Only one of them listed a price.
$1550.00 for the kit with 8" coil.

Here's a link if your interested:

Looks like a nice setup. If I were going to spend the money, I would want to compare it against the JW Fisher Pulse 8x.
