Dove in Cancun today with this outfit. Ben Mooney is excellent and the crew on the boat very service orientated. Picked us up at the hotel at 8:25 and had us back at 12:30. Door to door and the dives were great, C-58 and a shallow reef dive. Full service diving. If you are thiking of Cancun for diving try these folks, no cattle boat here only competence and a good safe time.:D

Exactly point, Capt! It is difficult for people to acknowledge given the close proximity to Coz. However, we have never been disappointed with the reef around Cancun. A greatly overlooked dive experience!

Oh yeah....glad you had a great trip with MAD!

Have dives planned with for Tuesday and Wednesday, looking forward to it. Did learn from Monday that the C58 was ripped in half by the Hurricanes a few years back, my original dive was on it when it was whole. Mother nature can be mean. Still a great dive and a good guide--go Ben Mooney.

Ok, we have settled on Cancun this year for our vacation/dive trip..which dives are the best? What is the "do not miss dive"? We love the Caribbean, have been to many sites. Which dive shops are best for experienced divers vs. newbies? Recommended places vs. don't bother operators?? Any advice and guidance is greatly appreciated!!!!

OFcourse I would recomend mayanaqua divers or mad, they are good. I have in the past dove with Aqua World and Scuba Cancun but they really fell short on service and sites. Aqua World has large boats and a lot of new people on them. Scuba Cancun though they used smaller boats went to some bland sites. Sites to recomend on the Cancun side are the wrecks, C58, and The C55 both are in about 80 ft range. <if you feel up to it, MAD will arrange Cenote diving--excellent and dives on the Santa Rosa wall in Cozumel. They are a one stop shop. In Mexico as in the rest of the world you get what you pay for. Contact Ben Mooney at MAD for the best info. By the way I have been coming to Cancun/Cozumel area for 18 years and the first time I recomended a shop. These guys impressed me. Not perfect but very good.

I dove in Coz couple of years ago and did some cavern dives, but my guy isn't in to that on this trip. Still debating over Cancun vs. Cozumel......decisions, decisions!!! One month to go!!!! Can't wait! :)

I agree with diver's post. Unless you are planning on cave diving, most of the dives are in the easy range. Except for when the current gets ripping!

Advanced diving is usually a trip to Coz. But it's mostly wall diving and different topology. I just like drifting along on the reef and looking in all the nooks and crannies. When I want something more advanced, I'll go to PDC for cenotes. Since you have already dove Coz, then you know what to expect.

My time share is in Cancun where Ben has his operation. Ben has instructed myself and my two youngest children. This trip, he is training my oldest daughter and my youngest one's fiance. I am VERY particular on instructors for training.

Lastly, I do all the dives with MAD. Reefs with the kids, cenotes with one of the cave guides and a trip to Coz with Ben. If you love the water and the Caribbean, you will have a great time with MAD. Drop him a line and discuss any package you would like and they'll make it happen. Door to door, pickup and delivery.

Do a search for MAD in the forum and see what other divers have to say.

WOW!! Thanks, mate! Or was it really because of the Crown Royal in my luggage?! :D

Only a month now, buddy! We are all ready to roll, except my wife. She is freaking out with the last plane incident that put those people in the hospital!

I just hope there is still whale sharks, regular sharks or something else to play with.

BTW, is Isidro still with you? I don't recall hearing much about him lately....
