Solved: Can you add a frown/unhappy face option to “like”

Is it possible to add a frown or unhappy face to the choices under “like?” Sometimes I want to acknowledge a post but if it is about something that is not good (coral disease in Bonaire) it seems wrong to “like” it. And the other choices work even less well.

I often like @DandyDon posts on accidents and incidents, and I seriously doubt he misunderstands the meaning of my "Like." I also have no objection to using a sad/unhappy emoji.

I do understand, but it still seems odd to Like a disaster. I use Thanks when others post new threads in A&I.

Unless I am missing something, every time someone replies with a Thanks in a thread, it adds another post. For many of your, and others' excellent, and much appreciated posts, I really don't want to have to scroll down through a string of "Thanks" posts to get to the next informative post. The Thumbs Up/Like emoji at the bottom of the post works great because it just cycles into the banner strip at the bottom of the post without adding more posts to the thread.

Unfortunately, tooltips are basically unavailable on many touch-screen interfaces (Smart phones, tablets, etc).

Tooltips popup on what is called a "mouseover", meaning you allow the cursor to hover over a graphic element without clicking or tapping. It can be difficult to impossible to get the above "mouseover menu" to popup on some touch-screen systems.

I agree with you that the Thanks Reaction is not a bad option in many cases but the smiling face with a thumbs-up may not feel right when someone tells you of a tragedy.

I can't think of any icons that reflect "Thanks." We used to have the word itself as one that could be used. A small version of this...

Fair question. The software restricts us to a 32 pixel square icon, which gets reduced to about half of that on the Reaction list at the bottom of each post. Example:

We need a graphic that is more or less square or round to use the space available to best advantage. Detail gets lost pretty fast when reduced that much. especially when you are using a smart phone.

Here is your text-based suggestion at 32 pixels wide. The standard text in a message starts out 15 pixels tall as a reference. Half of that would be a black smudge on the Reaction list.

In an ideal world, all the reaction icons would have a different color to make them easier to discern. Are there any computer graphic artists on the board willing to help?
