There was a particular wrist action in those days, used to wind automatic watches
That's why my late grandfather, who suffered from Parkinson's, was so helpful.

Has this information changed? I could swear that i saw somewhere that now Teric has a "watch mode" and that the screen is always on in that mode.
Yes, in watch mode the Teric display can be configured to wake up with wrist movement the OP's question. The blanking can be delayed by up to 20 minutes without movement. (Implemented in a 2021 firmware update, BTW.)

Are you looking for an Always On mode? That can be effectively achieved by basing timeout on motion and a 20 minute delay.

Right now I am evaluating options and the Teric is one of them, along with the MK3i. At the same time, I have other stuff to buy so it's tricky. I've thought about the Tern TX as well. It would be nice to have my dive computer for my open water class that is in two weeks (Cancun) so I get used to it as I want to dive the local quarry (Gilboa) when I come back up here to Ohio.

Between Teric & Tern Tx, I think it comes down to whether you want to use trimix or have backup deco calcs for a CCR.

I've seen some used Terics for almost what a new Tern Tx goes for, but I get that you're on a short timeline.

If you're uncertain about the need for trimix someday, I'd say get a Tern Tx now. If it later comes to it, you can always sell the Tern Tx and buy a used Teric for nearly the same price difference as when both were new.

Great points- thank you! Which Garmin Descent can handle trimix- just the MK3i?

Plus I want to use it for running also- my Coros is not good at all for tracking my heart rate during exercise. It's just wildly inaccurate.
