Drats! I meant September 6th/7th.

I changed the number of votes, but you'll still see your name under the original.

I cool with September 6th/7th as well. Edit -- I changed my vote on the poll!

Ann Marie - to echo Peter-C....Monterey can be an extreme pain I'm the backside on any summer holiday, hence my preference to go another time. We went down last time on that particular holiday and were unable to find a room for under $200 and reservations at restaurants, etc were difficult to get as well. From the standpoint of accomdating those divers who are coming longer distances, I can "totally get" doing that on a long weekend, but it will end up being more expensive.

True, in addition to the holiday rates in Monterey. We need to be aware of events at the fairgrounds. During Jazz festival, and Pop festival days. hotels and motels are out of reach. We have been forced to drive to Salinas on those weekends.

I personally voted Monterey, but someone mentioned the Channel Islands in another thread and I would be very excited about that.

I'd like a boat trip out of So. Cal. but hey, thats mostly due to being in Monterey fairly regularly. I'm sure the So Cal group feels that way about having it in their backyard too.

Considering cost of motels, restaurants, etc. chartering a live abord might be more economical to boot.

Didn't think about that Ron. The liveaboard option might be fun - but someone has to be able and willing to do the deal with one of the boats. Not sure if Tommy with Truth Aquatics and those guys would have the potential to do something like that. Any thoughts? Or is that "just too much"?

There's a few of us that are tossing around an Invade the SoCal perhaps in June to correspond with the Long Beach Scuba Show.

I've got a lot on my plate right now and can't get into the planning of that yet.

"Just too much" :D Some people may want to bring non-divers or may not want to do all that diving. Monterey has a lot to offer and if we include some shore diving along with some boat diving that may work better for everyone on this weekend. But on another weekend, that'd be fun!

Once we get a date and place we can start talking about the type of diving and maybe places to stay/eat. This is where we'll really need the locals to make recommendations! The poll doesn't close until next week. I wanted plenty of time to get people on board and not everyone logs in every day.:shakehead:
