California Meet and Greet (MAG)

Hey All!

I'd like to get the ball rolling on this Meet and Greet! I'm going to start a poll to see if we can find some dates that work for the majority of people. I'm also going to include a couple of destinations. I'm throwing in Monterey as I'd like to see as many people join us as possible. In Monterey, we wouldn't need to camp if we don't want to, there would be boats and shore diving, restaurants, and activities for non-diving family members!

So cast your vote on the weekend that looks best for you as well as the location you'd like to visit for this MAG.

If you don't plan to attend, please don't vote!!

Drats - I meant to do the September date. Darn it. Anyhoo! I would love this as well. Monterey is great in that there are plenty of hotels, some which even love divers! THE SHOCK! It would be awesome to hang out with some of you SoCal people!!

Since I began this thread on the First Annual California North & South MAG I would like to make an input.

It is evident that;
* Camping is not an acceptable to some who demands a hotel and room service.
* Walking to the dive area is not acceptable to those who fall off a boat.
* Surf entries are also not acceptable to those who frequent the dive park.

May I make a suggestion---A central location on the beach
The Five Cities Area of the Central Coast,
( this includes the cities of Oceano, Grover Beach, Arroyo Grande, Pismo Beach and Shell Beach)
<<<<< The area is geared to tourist >>>>>

It is located;
230 miles north of LA/OC
240 miles south of San Francisco
On the 101 Free Way
About a 4 hour drive

Temperate climate.
Very cool in summer time-Seldom over 75 degrees
Can be chilly in winter time--during the evening
Days are Generally sunny and warm year round.

Dive shops;
2 in San Luis Obispo
1 in Pismo Beach
1 In Santa Maria

Kayaking - Central Coast Kayaks

Diving;
Beach--Rocky or Sandy
Pier Sandy--enter from dock on Pier.
Kayaks ample lauching, bring or rent

Accommodations;
~~Camping;
Avila Bay..Private crowded but with small Cabins for rent $$
Pismo Village.. Private, crowded on beach $$$$
State campgrounds (2)..On beach $
~~Hotels;
Many many..Price will bring a tear to the eye $$$$$
~~Dining
Many many bistros, cafes, restaurants and fast food
~~Shopping
Outlet center
Boutiques every where
Shell & nautical shops
~~Wineries
All over Central coast

Programs??
Saturday Night pot luck Campfire?
Movies? Slide shows? Talks?

I personally voted Monterey, but someone mentioned the Channel Islands in another thread and I would be very excited about that.
