I know this seems to be a touchy subject but I am looking to buy a 2nd computer as a backup ( wrist mount ) and I was wondering if anyone out there has ever bought from Leisure Pro.

I have a Uwatec Aladin Prime in a console and think I'm going to buy another Prime but a wrist unit so I have the same algorithm and don't have to figure out how to use two different types of computers.

The cost savings is considerable, about 35%.

Anyone using the Aladin Prime and have any comments on it that I should know about before I buy a 2nd? or any comments about buying from Leisure Pro. They have told me it comes with a 2 year MFG warranty as long as I send it in. I can ship via UPS very cheaply so shipping cost isn't a concern for me.

Any help or comments is appeciated.

Since it's a back-up go for it. The warranty is the LP store warranty and not the manufacturer's warranty, if that matters.

Now you have opened a can of worms.

I will stay away from the general comments about places like Leisure Pro and just point out that Leisure Pro is not an authorized Scubapro/UWATEC dealer. They can't give you a manufacturer's warranty, only their own. If they said you would get the manufacturer's warranty, then they were either mistaken (to be charitable) or misleading you (assuming the worst). You will not be able to get UWATEC warranty service or the free batteries for the computer and may have trouble getting any service from Scubapro/UWATEC (I'm not sure how Scubapro/UWATEC handles this). Consider this when you are evaluating how much money you are saving. Scubapro/UWATEC has a very good warranty and service program, which is one of the things that makes it worthwhile to spend the extra money for their products.

Call larry at scubatoys he'll set you up with a good deal. He did for me, and he is an authorized dealer so you get full manufactures warranty on everything.

Quarrior, thanks for the response and I did listen but... at the moment I would really like a backup and I would like something on my wrist to make it a little easier to "glance" at during the dive. I have also listened to other responses that have said "IF" your comp goes down in the middle of a dive trip you can't just go jump back in the water with the boat because you wouldn't know what "your" levels were and that would ruin the end of your day. if the whole point of the trip is to dive as much as possible that seemed to make alot of sense too. I also have the luxury that my son is going to get certified before our next trip so I will most likely pass my console on to him at that time if I find that I don't need it and the wrist unit then seems to be the way to go.

I really appreciate your comments though as I have learned as much surfing around in here as I did talking to anyone at the LDS. Thanks again and don't hesitate to add future comments...I am listening.

Another vote for ScubaToys. Great prices and they are authorized manufacturers for everything they sell. They will also meet or beat competitor's prices, include LP's.

just thought I'd let all you hard cores know I took your advice and bought from Scuba Toys WITH the full MFG warranty. No more discussion on the "hot topic".
