My shorts survived, barely. The LDS where it happened had two different burst disk assemblies, 3500 & 5500. I tried them both and neither fit the valve. They don't know squat about tech gear, and I'm just learning, so I plan to take the valve to the other two shops in town to see if they have a disk set-up. If not, I'll get one online. Can I get a higher rated disk set-up (around 4500) to fit the OMS valve, or do I need to double disk?

Yes, various pressures are available for your valve blow plug. As you discovered, there is not universality in thread size for the plug. However, it is relatively easy to find the right one. I suggest you phone Northeast Scuba. They should be able to fill your request. BTW, if you double disk the blow plug it will not work at all. Anyway, that's what the cave people do. Some of the newer blow plugs contain the disk inside and it doesn't occur to me how it could be 'double disked' anyway. I only have an old model OMS valve in my locker so I can't verify that particular issue one way or another. If you have a plug kit with separate disk it means you would end up paying 5-6 bucks for a spare disk since they don't appear to be available separately anymore, just as part of a three piece kit. In the 'old days' disks were available separately. They were color coded 'red' for 3000 psi wp, black for 1800 psi and 'brass' for 2250 psi. Incidently, the premature blowout would have to be a freak occurence. Have no ready alternative explanation.
