Bungee cord for watch or compass

I am looking for some bungee cord thinner than the 4mm diameter which my necklace is made from. The Liquivision Xen came with a short length of thinner bungee which looks slightly over 2mm in diameter and that might be thin enough to let me get rid of straps on my watch and compass. Which diameter of thin bungee is best for such a purpose and where can I buy it in less than industrial quantities?

Dive Gear Express has 1/8" available, Deep Sea Supply has 5/32". I thought the bungee that came with the Xen was a little too thin, but after melting and smoothing the ends, I was able the get 1/8" through the holes.

or go to West Marine, they have bungee core of various size and color.

I buy mine for about ten cents a foot at REI.

I'll get some of the 1/8th and see if I can squeeze it through the watch strap pin holes. I can get the drill out if need be.

Have you tried ebay? Here in the UK it's the handiest place to get bungie. I use 3mm for my gauges and it's perfect for stretching over my rather large dry rings.

I use 5mm on my back up necklace, the rigidity is more manageable.

Yup, same happens to me when i buy cool stuff from the US. Damn customs!

I thought maybe there would be an equivalent on 'your' ebay. Have a search. It's cheap as chips over here.
