I'm looking for details on [all] the different uses of bungee cord on dive gear.

-How is it used?
-Why is it used?
-Thickness/Type
-How long does it last?

Pictures of the detail would also be great.

I appreciate any info/advice.

oooops. My bad.

I currently have about 80' of 1/8" and 80' of 3/16'' bungee.
My plan so far is to use it to:

-Loop on my left shoulder D-ring for the inflator hose.
-Wrist straps on my DSS/Suunto SK7 compass mount.
-Two loops on BP to hold a DSMB/Lift Bag
-Possibly two small loops on BP to hold a snorkel if I'm required to have one.
-Already have bungee straps on my Force Fin Pro's.
-Necklace on my safe-second.
-Maybe 24" of extra bungee in the save-a-dive kit.

Am I missing anything?

Those sound like good uses. I keep several feet in my save a dive kit too as well as a sewing kit and some duct tape.

I also use bungee loops on my straps instead of rubber sleeves to tuck in my flashlights that are clipped off to my d rings

I use bungee inside 7' tubular webbing with stainless bolt snaps sewn onto both sides. This is used to clip off our BC's when getting into or out of the water of my boat or kayak. Helps aleviate some of the jerk if a big swell hits. Also use the same thing to clip two kayaks together when anchoring.

Many people will also use bungee to hold their camera equipment 10-15' underwater.

On my kit it is bungee backup around my neck, inflator hold down, and wrist mounts.
