Ken,

Did PADI respond by the 15th? I also certified in Jamaica, February 6th, but I received my card in exactly a week at my home address.

No but I'll do my weekly mailbox check tomorrow (I live on a boat, so mail has to go to a box that I visit once a week) and then ring them in the evening if nothing has come through. News one way or the other by Thursday.

Cheers,

K.

my c card just arrived!

i was sitting at home, browsing scubaboard as i do every morning before leaving for work (my newest addiction) and the mailman rang. got certified on january 30th in thailand (asia-pacific office) and it got to portugal (it really is the other side of the world, exactly) today. 6 weeks if i'm doing the math right...

it's a nice dolphin-photographer scene.

I'm thinking that card is just the project aware card... I got that same card, and I'm still expecting my c-card...If I'm wrong, somebody please correct me...

The Dolphin is the "new" card turn it over it will say open water diver and other info like instructor etc.

Ok...well, I have my project aware card...no open water info or number on back... so I'm still in my holding pattern...

the dolphin card has OPEN WATER DIVER on the front and the PADI logo.
name's on the back, with diver number, birth date, certification date, instructor's name and number and a statement that's says the diver qualified acording to the standards required for this level.

it's probably not the AWARE card because i don't remember signing up for that.

I finally got through to 'Diver Certification' at PADI (by refusing to play the number game and waiting until a human answered) and they determined that my card had been sent to my home address at the end of January - it did not arrive. They have promised a second card in about a week.

Thanks to all who offered advice and help. FWIW, It looks like you should start making enquiries if the card hasn't arrived in 6 weeks.

I was assured if the second attempt doesn't work out, it shouldn't cayuse problems with my AOW in FLL... =8^o

Cheers,

K.

Just to wind this up, I collected my C-Card Thursday morning from my mailbox - with the first copy going missing that's exactly three months from my last qualification dive (to be fair, it may have languished in the mailbox for up to six days) and one week before I depart for FL.

Thanks again for the advice and offers of help.

Cheers,

K.

Just to keep this in context guys, PADI processed over 1 MILLION certification cards in 2003, and they have a 72 hour turn around time upon recieving the PIC.

What they cant control is the postal service.
